Title: True North (1/1)

Disclaimer: I don't own these characters, NTV, the original author of the novel do, but this is based on the dorama.

Rating: G

Genre: Gen, and if you squint, you could certainly take away some 'shippiness from it.

Notes: This is more of a drabble, and in a fandom I've loved, but never written for.

This is lovely! Shuji and Mariko, who I really loved while watching NwP. Nobuta and Akira, who of course I loved even more, since they're Nobuta and Akira. And the END, with Nobuta and Akira at Disney Sea (with Akia wearing a Mad Hatter hat!), holding a sign that says "Shuji". &hearts It's a PERFECT ending.

aww, thank you! calledinvain December 21 2007, 06:09:36 UTC
Nobuta wo Produce really just came out of nowhere and grabbed my heart, quietly without notice, until this twinge happened whenever I watched Akira watching Nobuta watching Shuji, etc, etc.

I really just love the friendship aspect of it all, but you know. Akira loves Nobuta who loves Shuji who loves.

This was excellent! Thank you for writing a NWP fic just when I was starting to miss this fandom again <3

You have a wonderful way with the flow of a piece; this reads just like a poem, it's just so smooth.

Akira's characterization throughout the entire fic comes through so easily, the simple show-don't-tell philosophy works really well here: "You have to stay in the middle, so the waves don't get you," Akira intones. He sits up, and offers a hand to Nobuta. "It's safer in the middle."♥ ♥ ♥ And all the characters, actually, are so real and true and right *there,* almost. I especially loved the way a tiny part of Mariko and Shuji's interaction was seen through Koji's eyes, because (aww, he's so adorable) aside, it really gives you a glimpse at how well he knows his brother. And the bit where they're all having dinner is just precious ( ... )

prose like poetry calledinvain December 21 2007, 06:17:10 UTC
is one of my biggest wishes for my writing - I took one poetry class in university, and it was so difficult in a different way than prose is difficult to write. So thank you for reading so closely, and commenting. Yes, the switch in name was deliberate, because Shuji gets the letters sort of out of order, so that it's an incomplete window of time that he's experiencing - by the time Mariko appears on his doorstep, she's made that transition to just wondering about Nobuko to being Nobuta's friend.

Ramble away! And good luck on your finals!

the way the simplicity of your words can draw out such intricate and vivid emotions....it's just inspiring. my heart squealed at the last two sentences of this marvelous piece. just beautiful, really...beautiful.

I love metaphors and descriptive language as much as the next recovering English Major girl does, but sometimes, a mood can be set using the simplest themes, you know? And Akira, and Nobuta, and Shuji, Mariko - the whole of NWP is so sweet, and gentle, and making the difficulties of growing up - simple. Like Mariko (OR IS IT?) I wanted to write something true.

Thank you for reading!
