Gloomy birdcages

Taiyou no Kisetsu is pretty much my most favourite jdrama ever now. There are lots and lots of caps under the cut. Plus squee.

!!

Tatsuya has chosen LOVE over REVENGE! Yeah! Eiko-san wins every round! Though his cryptic voiceovers are really making me dread the last five episodes. I think it's kind of funny (and a bit awful) how they overlap these adorable & sweet scenes of Tatsuya and Eiko running/holding hands/playing the piano with lines like "THAT SUMMER, I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU. ONLY TO LOSE YOU TO ETERNITY" or "IT WASN'T TOO LATE BACK THEN. IF I HAD LET GO, I COULD HAVE SPARED YOU FROM THAT CRUEL FATE". I think it's overkill :P It also reminds me of Strawberry on the Shortcake, which... errr, has quasi-incest. (I know, I know it gets resolved, but I didn't love the first episode very much anyway and I've decided I'll only watch things I really really like.)

Anyway, I remember thinking in the first three or four episodes how I felt sorry for Shinji, the son of the Banker who Tatsuya plans to destroy. He was bland but a fairly nice guy, up until the writers decided to give him some personality. It turned out to be a bit nasty. He'll protect his friends at any costs, but only if they place him first - I liked it when he asked Tatsuya who was more important, him or Eiko, which was the exact same thing his fiance asked him (would he rescue her or Tatsuya first if they were both drowning?). Those two deserve each other, after all. I started getting annoyed with him when he told Kouhei to stay away from Tatsuya, and it became full out dislike when he told Eiko she was a burden (because her family is telling everyone Tatsuya kidnapped her).

It was pretty intense when Tatsuya confessed; I'm surprised he did so early... but I guess since the episode ended with Shinji trashing a cafe in rage and promising to make Tatsuya pay... there will be enough drama left for the last 5 episodes. Nuuu. I don't want it to end ;_;

I also want to squee like a fangirl over the ending of episode 5, which I think I've re-watched like 7 times now. It's shipper heaven. Eiko's mother locks her up so she can't go see Tatsuya, but Tatsuya finds out and comes running - and jumps over the gate, which is almost taller than him!! - and then forces his way into the house! Then Eiko's mom starts being crazy and talks about how Tatsuya has SELFISH EYES like the man who deserted them, and then it gets really awesome because Tatsuya tells the mother Eiko isn't weak, and that she's the one who needs Eiko, not the other way around, and he holds out his hand, and says LET'S GO! And Eiko says I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, OKAASAN... BUT... and she grabs Tatsuya's hand, and they run, but the maid gets in their way and raises her arm to hit Eiko (bitch!!!) but Eiko slaps her instead (HA!) and then they runnnnnnnnnnnn freeeeeeeeeee. And there's the required voiceover of Tatsuya going I JUST WANTED TO FREE YOU FROM YOUR GLOOMY BIRDCAGE.

!!

Then they go to Tatsuya's apartment at the start of episode 6 and cutie Kouhei shows up and it is all too adorable for words. I love the bit where his boss calls and he realises he's forgotten he has to go to work (hee), so he leaves, and Eiko sees him off at the door and it's just ridiculously cute, they're both so happy.

OK, this is becoming rather unlinear now and confusing so I'm just going to stop here. But there are plenty of great shippy scenes in episodes 1-4 as well that I want to talk about but am too lazy to, so I will just post caps now so you can see how cute it is.

Some Kouhei love: He looks really familiar, what have I seen him in before?

PS: I don't know who chooses the background music in Tackey's shows, but that someone sure likes old-school 80's songs.

PPS: I find the ending credits hilarious, what with Tackey standing in various dramatic poses, slo-mo running, and the bit where he lies in the sand and has coal in his mouth. Gloriously wtf.

PPS: cheesemon's probably dying from the girlyness. Sorry Kevin, sometimes I fall for the pretty boy dramas too :P
