Normally, I keep personal things pretty far away from this journal, and pretty far away from the internet, period. But those of you who follow me on Facebook (my personal page, not my fan page) already know this, and I wanted to share this with the rest of you because it may be affecting future posts, and since it's the end of the month, that might make things a little crazy.
For the past month, I've experienced severe, intermittent back pain. It'd wake me up in the middle of the night, sometimes creep into my abdomen and force me to worship the great porcelain god, and then go away after a few hours and I'd be mostly fine the next day, save for being grumpy and tired and a little achey. I kept writing it off as back pain, albeit weird back pain, and putting off seeing my doctor. This happened for the fifth time in four weeks last weekend, and it was so bad I nearly went to the ER. Instead, I recouped, made a doctor's appointment on Monday, and learned it wasn't my back at all, but my gallbladder. Tuesday had me in for an ultra-sound where I learned it just wasn't my just gallbladder, but a VERY inflamed one with gallstones at that. Couple that with massive dehydration and a migraine, and they had me in the hospital that night with surgery scheduled Wednesday morning. I've been told my condition was life-threatening, which means I'm either really tough or really stupid. Probably both.
It's now Thursday, and I'm gallbladder and migraine free. :) I'm also home, recovering, and won't be able to do much of anything but sleep and read and maybe get on the computer for as long as my attention span (and pain) allows.
At any rate, if I'm slow in commenting or even curt when I do, that's why. Discussion posts for Catheryne M. Valente's Palimpsest and In the Night Garden may be later than I planned, but I ask for your patience and hope you'll bear with me. In the meantime, happy reading, and hopefully I'll have some goodies up soon for you to enjoy!
