Being at the parents' home, with a real telly, really made me appreciate just how much the Beeb advertise this thing to death. Also RTD seems to have latched onto "romp" as The Word of the Day, and was repeating it, rolling his r's, as much as humanly possible in every interview. And it was hilarious, because it became the only word I heard.

And, hey, you know what? My reaction to "he will knock four times" was, Hello, John Simm. Hehe.
"Meh", though, seems to sum it up nicely. I saw the confidential ep afterwards, and I was all, "and for this, you went to frigging Dubai?!"

The scenery was gorgeous. It looked like an alien world, it didn't look like a bad fake-up and it didn't look like another quarry. And trust me, I do appreciate that. It's just that the story should have matched it.

Hah! Exactly my reaction. It'll be a twist if it's NOT the Master.
Yeah, it just wasn't all that interesting, was it? It was okay. Fun. I was more interested in Red Dwarf (even if that wasn't as good as it has been, either).
I definitely agree that Malcolm was maybe the best character there - the interactions between him and the Doctor were the high points of the episode. They HAVE to bring him back! Him and Erisa!
And, oh, my reaction to the Doctor kissing his companion really, really shouldn't be boredom. Pls to be stopping with that now, kthanx. I'm not averse to it happening occasionally, but I think it should be once per Doctor at the absolute most. And ideally?

Malcolm definitely owned the laugh out loud bits of it. Malcolm and Erisa for the new team TARDIS? They could even have the whole military vs science argument.
There wasn't even a reason for the kiss this time - I think that's what's got me. Just randomly snogging, like drunk teenagers. At least before (except Astrid) there was some sort of reasoning there.

I enjoyed Christiana as a character simply becuase she reminded me of the Doctor, and you mention that she didn't get any payback, well, I don't tend to think that the Doctor does either. *shrug* Just my opinion.

It's all really ymmv; I didn't like Christina and I figured out the why after the fact, and different people are going to have different responses.
The Doctor's payback, for me, is losing people he cares about. Because he loses them to other worlds, or he breaks them, or they walk away. And it seems to hurt him. Whereas Christina was far more untouchable. But again, whether that's a good thing or not is all opinion.

That was pretty much my reaction, too. There wasn't anything horribly wrong with her (except for that freak out about her hair, ugh), but she just wasn't that interesting :/ I tried to like her!

Possibly if she were a 'real' companion she'd learn some compassion along the way
And yes. As a companion for a series, she'd be able to do stupid things for kicks that got people hurt, and have some remorse and learn to care for people and go through an entire redemptive arc. That could be fun. But for a single episode, not so much. There's not enough time.
