Being at the parents' home, with a real telly, really made me appreciate just how much the Beeb advertise this thing to death. Also RTD seems to have latched onto "romp" as The Word of the Day, and was repeating it, rolling his r's, as much as humanly possible in every interview. And it was hilarious, because it became the only word I heard.

I agree with you, this wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be, although I've felt that about all of the 'specials'. Like, they're just to tide people over till the series starts again, and aren't supposed to be real deep stories.
I really didn't like Christina either. She was so good at everything, and her only flaw seemed to be (apart from her disregard of the law) that she was really annoying, which was partly the actress, and partly shoddy writing. Especially the kiss, which, like you said, had no real reason to be there. RTD seems to have forgotten the reason everybody liked Donna was because she didn't have a romantic link with the Doctor.
Malcolm was hilarious, I loved him and Erisa. They totally stole the show.
I actually liked the ending with the warning. It was the only bit in the episode that I thought was really good- not just good. Although (and I do feel very, very stupid) I got it was the master, I only just (and I ( ... )

The specials, I think, suffer from being called "special". So very often they're a normal episode with more hype, and more time to whip us up into a frenzy that's bound to be disappointing.
... I really, really, miss Donna about now. (he had a friend that used to call him spaceman, and I want her back. She would have just told the skinny spaceman to fly the bus).
Malcolm surprised me, pleasantly. I want him back now, the mental little welshman (said affectionately).
The ending was the only bit that dipped down from forcedly gleeful. I like gleeful, but I also like contrast.
