Queer love tortures and kills. Straight love saves the world. Yikes.
I'd amend that it's Straight Chaste Love. Granted, I've not seen this episode (and now I'm not sure if I should) but as a general trend, I don't even think it's implying that queer love tortures and kills; it's implying that sex of any kind tortures and kills. However, I also think it's clear that they connect sex and queer-ness, since obviously the gays are all about sex and can't actually be in love.
For instance, look how they treat Constance pining over Denna vs Denna pining over Richard. One is actually treated with some gravity but the lesbian "love" isn't given any weight at all.
But ingeneral, I'ma agree with shinjokitty and say that it was more of a "OH FUCK HOW ARE WE GOING TO WRAP THIS UP *CUT, CROP, SEW, PASTE, DUCT TAPE* WHEW, RICHARD AND KAHLAN ARE TOGETHER," and everything else suffered as a result. It's the ignorance that worries me more than blatant "queers are evil." The ignorance means that the show never gave Cara/Kahlan (as unrequited as it might've been

Oh Denna. How I love you. How I miss you. I'm not sure whether to pour a beer on the ground for Denna or to pour Denna a beer.
Just when I'd managed to hook my family on this show they have to go and balls up the finale. I'm almost too embarrassed to continue to let them watch. "Hey guys, watch this show I've been obsessed with for months! Isn't is awesome!? I told you so! *blush* Yeah, the ending SUCKS. A LOT. But it's ok, I didn't know that when I forced you to watch it. My b." Ugh.

I hadn't realized ("Tears" made me brain dead) that if Cara had killed Kahlan, Cara would finally get to give Kahlan the Breath of Life that Kahlan's been asking for.
