Sadly after 12 years with this company (and just over 20 year’s experience), I have to look for employment elsewhere as it's been made apparent that I'll not be advancing here at this plant. They have chosen to advance 4 coworkers (cutting my pay in the meantime) who have neither done, nor know as much as I do, and only one has seniority over me. ( Read more... )

I feel you, Ernie. Been there. You're right-it's time to move on. I've found it very useful to think of companies as sociopaths. You may get what you want from them sometimes or even often. They'll say what you want to hear. But they'll turn on you in an instant, without a second thought or a bit of regret. The fact that you were the guy to point out management's flaws, no matter how carefully you did it or how useful the information, pretty much sealed it. Companies say they want that information. They don't. I think you can really only challenge the status quo if you're an owner. So yeah, the less capable, less thoughtful move up. And you move on. But change like this is almost always for the better. Craft a better situation for yourself. You've got the talent and the smarts.

So true. I actaully thought I would retire here, that's how great it used to be up until a month ago when the truth came out.

If you're like me, you might be inclined to bitterness. I still harbor some, and it's been 10 years. But it has softened, and it only really hurts me. Most important: the arrow of time points in one direction. Direct your attention accordingly. Move forward. It'll be okay. Probably even great.

I'm not at all a negative person, that's why this is strange for me. But I don't see ever being able to just sit back and watch unqualified idiots move on to better things while I stay stagnant.

Ernie--hugs--I'm sorry this is going on. I've heard this type of thing from others who work in QA chem.

I'd hate for you to have to leave the area, but I know that sometimes that is the only option. What sort of work do you do? And what level of preparation do you have?

Nope, but I do now. Thanks for the link!

I'm already aware of the small biotech's. Not interested. Besides I'm a Chemical Plant Chemist. No bio/pharm or engineering at all.

Our ACS isn't very active at all. But good suggestion. :)

Thanks!

No clue... or heart. Just apathy to get what they want with the least resistance regardless if it's wrong.

Sorry you went through something similar. :(

They need to treat you right my friend.
I left you a voicemail.
Doesn't matter that I'm on vacation.Call me if you feel like talk and I'll make time.

Those people that got advanced without paying their dues...they'll fall on their face eventually if that is any comfort.

Thanks JP. We'll talk later.

Sadly, my systems are so thourough that anyone at this point is well taken care of, and anyone can do this job. That's was makes it so sad... it's so fucking easy, anyone here can do it. But they bypass the one's that cared, had the knowledge and set this all up. :(
