Playing on the Freeway

Recently, I’ve been playing on the freeway. No, I’m not referring to my commute home. I’m referring to the LA Times Bottleneck Blog (syndicated on LJ as bottleneckblog). Uh, been there, done that. aaroads once had up pictures from the first SoCal Roadgeek Meetup, where we did go play on the freeway, before it was open.

Speaking from my experiences on the 118, I enthusiastically support the carpool "snitch line." Before this story was published, Minette and I were talking about how frustrating it is when people cut across the double-yellow lines, then back in order to get ahead of other traffic. And a week ago, a woman who tried to merge illegally came close to causing accidents (for me included) when she got stuck between the carpool and regular lanes due to traffic. Grrr. >_<'

That said, I'd like to see more CHP presence in general to cut down on the tailgaters, people who drive illegally on the shoulder and other reckless driving that seems to be proliferating on the 118 in the last few months.
