They certainly expanded possibilities for future seasons, didn't they.
BTW, someone else pointed out that when Sam wakes Dean up in the morning to tell him grandpa left, Dean is hugging a pillow that wasn't on his bed in the previous screencap, and that it matches the pillowcase design on Sam's pillows. So in the middle of the night Dean stole Sam's pillow?
The possibilities are indeed intriguing! It's not like there was just that one cell after all, something like that would be pointless if it wasn't global.
That pillow... The pattern on Sam's bed is a large one, that pillow has a smaller pattern, so it's not one of Sam's. *reviews episode* is the one Henry was leaning against when he was sitting on the couch. Spare pillow for the room, probably, and Henry gets the couch instead of one of the beds. Dean didn't have it when Henry was done with the Journal, and it's assumable Henry went out shortly after so... oh this is too adorable for words. Henry must have put it in Dean's bed and sort of tucked him in? Maybe. There is a HUGE missing scene in that. XD
A note for you: Show has decided that John was born in 1951. I guess they realized that having him arrive in 1954 didn't work with his being back from Vietnam (as a corporal) in 1973. So, pffffft with the gravestone in WIAWSNB. I'm gonna go with, the djinn's magic messed with Dean's memories, and he confused John's birth year with Mary's.
Other than that...MAN, I love this episode. The backstory! The metric tons of backstory! And the awesome possibilities for the future!
No, I am sorry but they picked 1954 and now they are stuck with it. Dammit, I got John's dog tags made up from a screen cap. I am sorry they didn't think it through the first time but they will just have to change their title card. Like anyone could spot the differences between 58 & 61? Changes took place at a slower pace back then. John's military career was just extraordinary, okay. An extraordinary career as suits an extraordinary man.
Wheeee! I was surprisingly meh about this episode, so thanks for highlighting all the squeeworthyness.
Although the probable loss of all that knowledge (because how likely is it that they manage to open the box and it goes over well) still makes me sad...
Happy to highlight the squee. I'm hoping that second long car ride involved some kind of information exchange, but I'd have much rather had Henry stick around. Still, it's Supernatural, death isn't always permanent.
As to the demon killing knife, Ruby just had it and then gave it to Sam and Dean. I read that originally they were going to have Samuel Colt making it in Frontierland, but the scene either never got written or was cut for time. Well, now it has an official cannon explanation, so that's good.
I thought there was an implication she'd made it, but even if there was, demons lie. Glad they didn't have Colt make it, that would have been weird, and it's nice to have magic items coming from other cultures.
