You did indeed dodge a 'Soon', which is odd because I don't think they're taking a break. I thought it was cool, but I'm glad for you that your feed cut off juuuust in time ;)
There is indeed a break - is this considered a spoiler? ;D If so than stop reading now and if not: Next week will be a new episode but then... re-runs :(
There's a break after 5.06. I don't mind though, with the way this season has gone so far, I could use some time to process everything and maybe get something written before it gets Kripke'd. Even a drabble.
While not the best ep ever, the brotherly moments were good - finally Dean acknowledges he also had a roll in starting the Apocalypse (and I'm glad they've cleared up that little niggle about whether Sam knew about the First Seal, which he apparently did!) And also Dean begins to realise that he has to let Sam grow up. Interesting in the same ep where we see John is still Dean's idol - and had to die for Dean to become his own man. Did Dean have to die for Sam to become his own man? Hmm...
I think the Sheriff was Chuck the pilot from Phantom Traveler, but I'm not entirely sure about that. And I'm even less sure about the guy who got ganked by Abe Lincoln being one of the Lone Gunmen...
And yes, Fake Little Bastard vs. genuine Impala would have been awesome!

I don't know... there's meta lurking around in here and I can't chase it because I'm at work. :-P

Really?? I'm gonna have to rewatch that when I get home. I used to love the Lone Gunmen and didn't recognize him. I think they're all Vancouver actors (although ISTR hearing that one of them was working at the Vancouver Library for a while) so them showing up would be cool.

Yes, the sheriff was Chuck the pilot (+ ~50 lbs.), which distracted me greatly throughout the episode. I also thought his obliviousness was being influenced by Paris Hilton the Leshi, so that he would not investigate more closely.
I was totally freaking out with the "almost John appearance" too.
That was an awesome fake-out. I really thought they might have managed to land JDM for a five-minute spot. Can you imagine the massive trauma though of either of them having to hack his head off? o.O

Oh absolutely. Habits and perceptions that ingrained do not change like flipping a switch.
