Yes! That scene. He's just so gleeful when his human catches on.
Also, I demand this: So, off we go, hunting a genetically-engineered pickaxe murderer who is possibly the son of the devil in a sandwich shop that's plagued with overwrought relationship drama and haunted by the ghost of someone's estranged artist brother and Marilyn Munroe. Stat, yo.
Like demon deals, with prophecy (and by extrapolation, Fate,) there's loopholes through which free will can and does operate. Free will and fate/destiny are not mutually exclusive things. Needs more brain, but I just wanted to point that out. *nods*
Yup yup yup. Certain events or whatever may be set in stone, so to speak, but the journey -- that's where the wiggle room comes into play, aka free will. It's fast becoming my mantra these days when it comes to describing the mytharc on Show right now: free will determines Fate. :)
There actually were a TON of spoilers floating around about this episode, so pat yourself firmly on the back for having avoided them!
I have one question: did the thieves steal Sam's laptop out of the Impala? And if not, what were they breaking into the car for? Surely they wouldn't want a cassette tape player, and it doesn't have airbags.

I'm leading a pretty cloistered existence to avoid them :-)

I'm thinking they were after it for a joyride, and then when Dean caught them at it and the accident happened, they busted out the window for spite. Therefore, they must die. *nods*
As far as Sam's laptop goes, I'm suspecting and hoping Dean put it in the trunk.
*Gasps for air* Oh yes, there was much of that. Just, wow, crap. Castiel--have I mentioned how much I love his doomed/character? Anyway, couldn't stop laughing through your recap either--and the book covers!! Fabio--*is naseous* Also processing here, but the fate loopholes..interesting.
I've been surprised that there are people who really hated this episode. Glad you're in the "sqee" group ;) You think we'll see Chuck again? I was kinda expecting him to die at the end of this ep, then when Zachariah showed up, for him to relocate Chuck so the boys couldn't find him again. It'd be a very strong temptation to start calling Chuck regularly. It'd put Bobby out of a job ;0

There's got to be free will in there, otherwise what's the point of fighting evil? If there's no free will, sit back, relax, and let whatever's going to happen happen. Not something our boys are used to doing.
Loved that they were working together and actually communicating better last night than in a long time. And Castiel getting sneaky and working around the rules. He's almost as tricky as a Winchester. LOL!

This is why I don't read other reactions before I get my thoughts together, so I develop my own opinion before wading out into what the fandom thinks. I'm actually not surprised that some fans might not like this episode, but I'm not one of them. I prefer to focus on the squee. :-)

I would lay money on it.

Yeah, he might do that, it's hard to say what happened after the credits.

Can't have that! :-D

Exactly. There can be Fate without fatalism. *nods*

I'm still pretty sure Zachariah is not an angel.

With the being sly and sneaky and oh so very subtle with the clue-bat? Hee! Yeah.

Has Castiel said anything about Zach being his superior yet? *ponders*
