Nesting, Fairyland, and more!

This weekend I got hit by the nesting bug, right at the 30 week mark. I had heard that it can make you rather manic, but chalked it up to exaggeration. Well, it's not. Monday I got this sudden, irrepressible urge to go buy the things for the nursery NOW. I had been trying to be good and wait for my shower before buying anything, if only so that I  ( Read more... )

Haha, I bought stuff like mad all through my pregnancy - I'm guessing it's because hubby was out of the country until I was 7 months along, so it kept me occupied. Gotta love the smell of baby detergent! I kinda miss that. :P

One of the best things I did for myself was to go out and get my hair done and stuff when I was ~8 months pregnant. I'd totally recommend going to get a pedi, just to make yourself feel better! I wish I had done that myself.

Can't wait to see your dolly! I'm in love with Fairyland, which is bad...they own my soul...and my wallet. Currently on working day 18 for Elliott, and it feels like forever. T_T Hopefully yours move faster since you're getting them without face-up!

And you should totally spaz out on the construction guys. Doing work on your street is one thing, knowingly blocking off your driveway is something else entirely. >:O

I'll be getting my hair done in a few weeks, it's about 16 inches long and though I usually try to grow it out for Locks of Love, I won't be able to stand having hair that long with an infant. I'm trying to wait as long as I can so that it doesn't have time to grow out again. Right after I get it cut, my hair usually goes crazy and grows extra fast. I'll definitely be pampering myself as much as I can afford to in the next 10 weeks.

The construction guys were really nice during the first half of the job, and were always hurrying to make sure our driveway was passable if we came home in the middle of their work. So I am hesitant to go nuts on them too quickly, hoping they will go back to their old considerate selves, but one or two more incidences of this and they're going to learn to fear the preggo.

Heh, I don't think I ever had a real bought of nesting when I was pregnant...I don't know why. But I have to agree with you that size and signs like that don't really mean much about coming early or not. In fact, if you don't count on the baby coming early you won't be disappointed when it comes late. All babies will have decreased movement in the later stages of pregnancy because they are running out of room. :P

I'm not saying you won't be early, just don't get your hopes up because if you are late it can be a real let down (trust me, I had two babies late, one of which was five days late and I was ready to go on a murderous rampage). Besides, it's best if the babies "cook" as long as possible. :D

I'm also small so I look huge! When I was seven months pregnant a guy I knew said to me, "Haven't you had that baby yet?!?" I wanted to punch his dumb face.

I had expected movement to decrease, just not so suddenly. One day she was going nuts at every little thing, the next I couldn't get her to move when I stimulated her. She was back to normal the next day, though, so I'm still glad I called. The time spent was annoying, but the peace of mind was worth it.

I'm not getting my hopes up, because early babies don't run in my family. There is a small, selfish part of me that would like to pop early, because I'm REALLY uncomfortable, but more than that I want her to be healthy so I'll sit tight.

Someone at the restaurant yesterday refused to believe, after I told him that I had ten weeks to go, that I was having just one baby. He told me to check again. :P

Can anybody ever REALLY tell when a baby's coming until RIGHT before you go into labor? No. Some women just grow babies fast, some take a little longer, some take EXACTLY 40 weeks. Just depends on the mom and the baby! My roommate's sister has never delivered later than 36 weeks, and she has always had healthy, 7-8 pound babies (however, she ALWAYS measured larger). Then you have my mom, who had all three of her kids past their due dates, was convinced that we all should have come out three weeks earlier because we were, according to her, "overbaked." The baby will come when she's good and ready!

I say this is the best time to exact some hurt on the workers. I mean, who's going to be mad at a pregnant lady? Nobody, that's who. It's the perfect plan!

I'm measuring right on track, and no one in my near family has had early labors, so it's my personal opinion that I'll take 39-41 weeks. Despite my boss being a nurse, she's also a much bigger woman than me (tall and wide) and thinks I'm huge. I'm respect her as a nurse and a mom, but she doesn't know my body.

I'm about ready to call those workers out, but they got lucky and haven't been in front of my driveway the past couple of days!
