On the fence

So, I posted a while back about my Bobobie Mei's face-up being damaged, and today I think the chip in her lip is only getting worse. So I asked my husband if I could buy a blank doll head to practice face-ups on, because I've decided I can and should fix her myself so that I can get the look I really want. But I need a little practice first to ( Read more... )

Well, I know for a fact that you can wipe a doll's face multiple times and it be okay. But I think that your confidence would really improve (and maybe you could do Alora's faceup in one go) if you had a practice head to work on. I think it would do you well to wait for a practice head--plus, once you're done with Alora's face, you could give the practice head a faceup and maybe sell it for a bit of a profit?

Despite this being the answer I was leaning towards myself, it's also the one I don't like. Patience is NOT one of my strong suits. Still, practice makes perfect, and I think I'd be happiest with the results.

Don't I know it! Having patience totally sucks, but it often pays off it in the long run!

Unless you use harsh chemicals to clean her, or crazy sandpaper or something, I don't think there's any risk of damage. But if you don't feel comfortable enough to just go ahead and wipe & redo Alora's faceup at this point, I'm with Allison - hold out 'til you can snag a practice head. :)

And just wait, the kicking will get even harder! All kidlets are different I'm sure, but Kaia was a spazzy kicker to the point where I couldn't sleep because of it sometimes. XD I miss that feeling though, despite the lack of sleep. It's a time of bonding with your child - while your life is still blessedly quiet! lol

Wiping the face-up makes me as nervous as redoing it, but it will have to be done. Still, I think I'm going to (try to) hold out for a practice head... I can get in at least one practice face-up without having to struggle with getting the first one off.

She's already disturbing my sleep! But I have to admit that I'm enjoying every kick, except maybe the time or two she's kicked me somewhere it hurts. It's kind of fascinating to feel her wiggling around.
