already i have beef with Fallout 3 :( and this is because you lose karma when you rob someone, even if they dont see you! Usually if given the opportunity, I like to be nice to NPCs and chose the friendly things to say, but secretly rob em blind behind their backs,and trash their house (like in Oblivion I'd walk into mage guild and blast their book

karma doesn't effect the game too much; the major thing it effects is what allys can join you. The game is kinda linear in that you have to follow the same main story line regardless of alignment.

Even if you have bad karma you can say nice things to people, and even if they don't know you're robbing them blind, you do! I think it makes sense.
