This includes SPOILERS from 2x13 all the way through 3x13. Read at your own risk. Also, be warned that this includes many screencaps - I don't know if it will take longer to load or not

*Mostly I just wanted to include pictures of Guy.* Thanks, again
*Doesn’t he look all sexy and vulnerable when he’s tied up?)* [loses train of thought due to mind wandering] Sorry, what was the essay about? [wipes drool off face before continuing]
*Due to an editing glitch we don’t get to see the following, though it was intended, really: Right before the credits roll, Much takes a sharp breath, opens his eyes, and looks straight at Carter.* Is that the 3.14 you were referencing? ;) This ending in particular is begging for a fictionalized version!
And because I forgot to mention it in my first comment: another sign that you are spot on is that only a delusional and obsessively jealous mind could think up Kate - the embodiment of all Much's nightmares about women!
"3x14" - oops. I've fixed that repeatedly and yet I still keep making the same mistake. Must be that I expected a 14th episode that showed the writers planned this. I actually did convince myself that that's where the writers were going for the first three episodes of season three. I mean, how could it NOT be a delusion?
The fire! And here I wrote it off to the special effects guys getting over enthusiastic. Good point about turning metal into gold - Much's desire for wealth.
The Plan makes sense now too.
The endint you have here is great. Tears = bucket of water.
This has got to be the best thing I've heard as an explanation for S3. Sorry if I said that before.
I had to make the PLAN make sense somehow. It's the biggest running joke in my house. No one can say the word "plan" any more without cracking up. Poor Allan, you deserved better writers.
I've just read both of these. They're fantastic and very well thought out. It actually seems plausible! There are a few teeny things (we saw how Archer faked turning the metal into gold, Allan didn't end up with a love interest) but for the most part, this makes more sense than parts of the show. Especially the reoccurring fire and major garbage that got heaped on Much. And the bizarre plans like the bees, the crown, etc. you're right that they seem like the kind of thing Much would dream up.
Wait, wait, I can make it work that we see Archer switch the gold. I'm good at crack theories. Okay, see, in the delusion Archer is related to Robin. Robin is related to how Much would have attained success and Bonchurch. The false gold, as switched by Archer, is indicative of the false promises Robin made to Much.
Allan didn't end up with a love interest...because he belongs to me. No, wait. Allan doesn't really end up with a love interest because Much thought about that (Allan and Kate flirt), but Much was still hung up on Allan betraying them. The role of Allan in Much's delusion shift slightly but remain, in the end, fixed on Much sorting out if he can trust Allan as his friend again.
This really is utterly fantastic! I see the world as it is now! The blinkers are off! ...Is that a giraffe?
*ahem* really, great work, there's too many things for me to comment on so let's just say I loved all of it! It all made sense and I loved that it was from Much's perspective on things. Well done! :) xx
Bravo! I love ALL of it. Sooo many great points. Much IS Pam Ewing. Ha! Who could ever imagine that so many years later an entire season of a series would again turn out to be the dream/delusion of one of the characters? (At least in the '80s there were some *ahem* pharmaceutical excuses...Wait! Maybe...) And my God, you're right. There's a ridiculous amount of fire throughout! I really hadn't processed it all. But in one go? Yikes! They're all a bunch of little pyros running around Hungary
( ... )
"Yikes! They're all a bunch of little pyros running around Hungary." FOR SERIOUS. I don't know how they managed to NOT burn the whole country to the ground.
Karen, I love your theories. The spiders I didn't include because I didn't have the time to go back and rewatch, and I hadn't watched carefully enough for that in the first place. The Guy theory is still processing through my brain. I think I will have to watch all of season 3 with that in mind at some point. LOVES to you for your brilliant crazy.
HA! Thanks! I LOVES being Loved for my "brilliant crazy." ;-) Thanks for letting me play. Your MUCH THEORY was just inspired!
No problem re: the spiders and Guy. We were both whipping through theories so fast that day, as if there was no tomorrow. And there wasn't, as you had to get out of Dodge! ;-) I thought I might have mentioned it/them, but couldn't quite remember, honestly, so brought it up here... And Guy was just an idea I tossed out as a possiblity in that last ep. You're right. It would take a season-long viewing with that in mind, to see if that theory really sticks. Thanks again. This is GREAT! LOVES to you back.
*At least in the '80s there were some *ahem* pharmaceutical excuses...Wait! Maybe...* In 110, Marian says that 'they eat too many mushrooms in that forest', so the pharmaceutical excuse is _right there_ ;)
And the theory about Guy as a projection of Much's dark side = pure gold!
And the dead!Marian illusion has to be a product of Much's imagination because you are absolutely right, real Marian would never wear something that sophisticated. Not even when dead.

Only a mind that's on its last legs, desperately trying to keep itself going, could concoct such a horror. And Much's mind is a little scary anyway.
