yeah, i've tried that. i can see that it's trying to pull data from http://menegroth.wozupdoc.net/, but nothing's coming up. i tried going that that address, and it takes too long and times out. hmmmm...
Very strange... I don't know why there would be problems with the access to my site (where I stored the pics), as I can see everything. I've re-uploaded everything to PhotoBucket. Maybe it works now?
I'm glad the review seems good enough to make people want it ~ not that I would get anything if more people bought it. But the pretty! It needs to be seen and squeed about! *^________^*
Yes! Yes! Yes! And I'll send the bill from my credit card to you, oh temptress of the seven seas!
It looks fantastic! Can't wait to see the drawings in detail. One question: how heavy is the book? Because I might buy it in London while I'm there, rather than ordering it through amazon... thanks so much for sharing, what a find!
*thhrrrrpppt* Your credit card bill is your own, lady! ;)
It is fantastic. Must remember to wash my hands before touching the pretty though, as I would not survive having jam stains on those pages. *g*
Poor little student me doesn't have a weighing machine, but the parcel it arrived in (and there wasn't anything in it besides the book) says 4.2 kg. O_o* And cardbox and bubblewrap isn't that heavy... So it's safe to say that you'd have about 4kg extra luggage from that book alone. (I don't know how much F&M tea and other goodies you were planning on hauling home from your trip?)
I'd bring it with me when I come to visit, but I really don't see myself lugging that thing around on the train. ;)
It's great. But nothing I would take along to read on the train or so...
Greenwich, or Portsmouth. Or both. I'm really, really torn because I desperately want to see the NMM at Greenwich, but HMS Victory is in Portsmouth. *sigh* We'll just have to talk about it and see what works better for everyone, I guess.
Gorgeous pics - and it obviously fits the definition of a coffee table book because there's nowhere else to keep it. But maybe you need a spare coffee table to avoid stains etc.... The Trafalgar pic is fascinating. I've been to Cape Trafalgar and looked across completely empty blue sea from an equally empty beach, trying to imagine the battle.
*grins* It would be a coffee table with a sign saying "food and beverages of all kind forbidden!", because I'd really be afraid of having stains in this wonderful book... :) Oooh, Cape Trafalgar. I envy you! Of course, it must be really hard to imagine a battle of those proportions going on within sight of the coast ~ I don't think my imagination would be up to it.
It's hard. The 'Coast of Light' is very windswept and deserted a lot of the time though it attracts surfers. We drove onto the beach and got horribly stuck in the sand till a kind person came and helped push us out. I could imagine (just) seeing a sailing ship on the horizon or nearer in, but it was so quiet that a battle didn't seem real.
