First of all, let's all give a Navyboy fangirl squeal three cheers:
In honour of
Lord Admiral
Cuthbert CollingwoodH.M.R.N.
who would have celebrated his 259th birthday today.
I would have dearly loved to invite Lord Collingwood to have a cup of tea with me, and ask him what he thinks of Navy slash...

I can't tell you how much I love your two "sea chest" drawings. The most adorable thing about this one? The mischievous way he's plucking on the breeches, while his lover cups his chin so gently and is obviously on cloud no. 7. That's so sweet and loving! Then, of course, I have to add my usual squee about the flow of the fabrics, buttons, flaps (HEH!), shoes and wigs. Extra bonus-point for chest hair and hinted treasure-trail. Love, love, love this one (and I really wonder what's in that chest to deserve such a huge lock! Let me guess - one of them did indecent drawings of the other...?)

And I guess you're right: Old Cuddy would have bigger fish to fry nowadays. *g*
I'm really lucky that so many people like my continued obsession with fabrics, buttons, flaps and wigs ~ that way I can indulge in it all AND still pretend to cater to the Navy fangirls out there... ;)

Not having decided whose chest it is, and who is the artist between the two, any explanation is possible and speculation (which might create plotbunnies) is always welcome! *g*
I would not be surprised if there was more than just spare shirts and linens in that chest, though. Not if Amandine has anything to say about it, at least... ;)

I must say, you have a way of drawing the movment of the piece in a way so that, for example, James' ankles, are just fluid and smooth. The way the portirat is set in motion is very unqiue and difined.
I'm espiscially loving the way Gillette is dipicted here. It's so natural for him, and James while confined in that stiff uniform is natural looking too. Even the uniform, from your pen, doesn't look uncomfortable, which you see so characteristic of 18th century protriates. Seriously, can your clothes really hurt you that much to wear?
And I love Gillette's hair, so very cute and pretty!
As always great work! I am so sending this to my sister who is studying art as a career, she could use an example like this.

I usually just draw what feels right and "go with the flow" of things...
BTW, I'd love to hear what a professional like your sister would say about this. ;)

But her opinion was far less indepth than mine. For the most part though, she nodded and said 'pretty good' which she says about everything. I keep trying to tell her, when you comment on someone's work you need to say what makes it good, not that it just is, otherwise you're not helping them.
But she did notice the shading and the way the cloth draped over the subjects, that she did say was exceptional.

Every artist does that. No matter their art form... if you go about it like that, you can't really go wrong can you?

Very nice. Since I'm by no means a Collingwood expert, I can't say as I what he might say. But I know I LOVED it. Or Love it, if you want present tense things considered... *hurm*
Anway. Pretty coat, extra-pretty breeches, cute postures. *love*

Then of course, they make out or have seachest!sex, which admittedly I don't recall ever reading before. ;)

So glad you like it! And of course, your ficlet to go with it is lovely and very, very sexy. ;) Love how Gillette's doubts melt away under James' compliments, to be replaced with his naughty thoughts just afterwards... :)
Though I imagine seachest!sex to be a very uncomfortable, if not painful affair... *g*
