Sleepy.

Didn't work today -- threw up three times last night, and barely slept, as a consequence. Only managed to sleep until eight this morning, despite that fact. I hate my internal alarm clock. Hate and loathe.I finally managed to watch a good portion of the Tonys, largely by fast-forwarding through most of the awards and just focusing on the musical ( Read more... )

What was it about "Defying Gravity" you weren't happy about? The choice of song? The performance of the song? The variation of the song since I think for the Tony show it was staged differently than either the regular show (from my memory of the SF performances) or the CD track?

I think that's one of those songs you need to be really, really warmed up to do. I'd be happier if they'd done the full song so that Glinda got to sing more -- I understand cutting it for time, I can see where that was needed -- but really, my problem was that Elphaba wasn't warmed up from doing the whole of Act I, and so she sounded badly strained on the biiiiig notes.

I just didn't feel it made as good of a showing as, say, 'Loathing' or 'Good News (No One Mourns the Wicked)' would have done.

Mermyds? How the heck do you pronounce that?

I assume she was trying to come up with a unisex term and (for some reason) didn't like merpeople or merfolk. But mermyds?

I have now heard 'Defying Gravity' (and the Elphaba/wiz song where he tries to get her on his side), thanks to Jordan bringing 'em in his laptop and playing 'em (and two from Avenue Q, which I've wanted desperately to see for over a year -- and it's never coming to Chicago! Whiiiine!) in his 'little-known Broadway musicals' panel at Conterpoint.

Missed you.

Hee! I feel your teeth pain, since I won't read any vamp fanfic with "childe" in. But I'm glad you got your package!
