We're officially getting up at six in order to get into the car, aim ourselves towards California, and go. I've been up since five, thanks to a catastrophic failure of my earplugs (one of them vanished completely into the soft underbelly of the bed, and no amount of flipping over rendered me able to go back to sleep). I lived for several years in the Portland/Vancouver area. I had friends in Eugene and would drive down and spend the weekend about once a month or so. Also had friends at Cannon Beach (the Haystack Conference..Ursula LeGuin...yum)and would spend the night there every now and then. I didn't go to Powell's much. Too much like a kid in a candy store.
Gods I'm homesick now.
