Absolutely freaking wonderful. You have Lorne's voice down to a T, including that painful level of irony and sadness that's really there in canon, behind the optimism and jokes.

And in the end, when he walks away, he won’t even say goodbye, because Pylea teaches you how to hurt people, and he was always beautifully Pylean.
And then *bam*. Boot to the head. That just gets right in there and doesn't let the reader pretend that Lorne can be dismissed because he's funny and flambuoyent, because he cuts right to the bone.
I'm really glad you liked it! I was hugely torn this time, because I knew that if I did Spike/Xander, it would be a followup to 'Finding Neverland', soooo...
I was worried, things went well, life is good. And you are happy, and since the fic was for you, life is even better.
I am *very* happy. (All my threats to force the next poor sucker into writing S/X by hook or by crook are utterly unrelated to the wonderfulness that is this story. Which I realize I said before but feel the need to reiterate!)
