Behold my used book karma!

Tuesday night, while killing time before Vixy's flight touched down, Chris and I decided to invade the Fremont Half-Price Books, which we hadn't visited in ages. (By 'Chris and I decided', I really mean 'I decided, Chris elected to go along with it, because it was at least amusing'). This meant calling Rob to check the Internet to tell us where ( Read more... )

Do you get that thing where you actively resent Jerry Pournelle a little bit, just because it seems like there are always tons of his paperbacks on the shelves and never any Powers, which should be right there? I get that. I've been getting that since 1988.

Now we just spend a great deal of money on Powers hardbacks. But of course I still look... and cluck at all that goddamn Pournelle. Goddamn Janissaries.

I've never seen the Tor edition of Hellspark either, I have two of the Meisha Merlin trade p/b ones (one signed, the other available for general reading, taking with me in a backpack, etc.).

Rob is a very dear and tolerant man who loves me enough not to view that sort of thing as reason to declare a blood-feud.

What, there are those who would?? Many's the time when I've been called from as far away as Oregon or even Montana and asked directions, weather reports, traffic, or if there's suitable food around.... Hmph. Anyone who would consider that cause for blood feud is.... less than a gentleman.

(Of course, I had to be careful this morning not to sing too loud... when the tracks are "PLDG" and "Evil Laugh", you get *looks* if you sing too loud... :) Especially in a decidedly non-violent town like this...

picked over like roadkill in a region with a high corvid population!

*cackle* oh, my... you certainly have a way with words. (Hurry up, DAW!)

Of course, the part that Seanan doesn't mention is that she got me out of bed to look up her directions. (She didn't know I was in bed. I had turned in early after a long day.) :) I love my Seanan more than the whole wide world. :)
