Periodically, Merav (with assistance from Jon) will assemble 'care packages' of silly little things that she thinks I'll like, and send them off to make my day better. I very much appreciated and wish to encourage this hobby. Any hobby that means I occasionally get scary mystery packages on my doorstep is a-okay with me, providing those packages

Today's moment of serendipity: two whole posts down from this on my friendslist is this bit of information from stoney321: Harper's Index informed me this month that it takes 3 kernels of corn to make the corn syrup in one kernel of candy corn.

Last year I found pumpkin lights in the Smith and Hawkins isle of our Target store. They were on clearance for half price. We draped them over the curtain rod in our living room window. I was delighted beyond measure. My wonderful husband, who doesn't always get me, but looks on with tolerance and amusement, was my partner in crime. This is why I totally know why you are so delighted with your candy corn lights. Patrick, alas, will now look at both of us with tolerance and amusement, because that is what Patrick's do, so we are all used to it.

By the way, I kept thinking of you today. As part of "community care day" (for which I get paid!), my job was to help cleaning out the extensive, multi-chambered basement of the lodge at Camp Mary Orson, a basement that has not been cleaned out (but has been further cluttered) since the 1930s.

I would like you to know that I would, in fact, be the first to die in a horror movie.
