The meet-and-sniff in review. Hurrah!

May 10, 2007 09:54

Last night was the Berkeley area BPAL (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) Meet-and-Sniff: an excuse for people with too much time on their hands to gather in a small nest with their carefully-hoarded stocks of perfume oils, smell one another's collections, smear things on themselves, and generally engage in tribal bonding with a possible side-order of ( Read more... )

I still need to see Slither.

And I still do not understand BPAL.

Think of it as Pokemon that you can wear.

Also, girls are weird.

The one I was given was '"Magic: the Gathering" for geeky girls.' Only, I suppose, you can wear it too. Wearing Magic cards...hmmm....

I have been dying to try Enraged Groundhog Musk for ages - you must tell me how it smells! And I love Underbed and Trick or Treat, but Two, Five and Seven smells of mint on me, which I just don't get since it's supposed to be roses! WTF body chemistry!

I think that's the 'hint of green grass'.

I know that Two, Five and Seven has some sort of unholy affair with mint going on, because Monsterbait: TokyoStomp (which was supposed to be divine, dammit) does this weird 'I am a puff pastry' on me, but when I layer it with Two, Five and Seven does this strange 'I am minty rose freshness hear me ROAR' which is surprisingly nice.

I haven't tried Tokyo Stomp yet, although I have a sample winging its way to me shortly. I bought a bottle of Ventriloquist Dummy but sadly all I get from that is patchouli and I HATE patchouli. :(

I have this weird thing with patchouli. My brain thinks it's the spiffiest thing EVAH. My nose, not so much. I keep expecting to wake up one day and not be able to smell anything at all because my brain's goons took my nose out back for 'reeducation'.

If you end up loving Tokyo Stomp to death and want a bottle, let me know. Mine's been cleanly tested from the lid 3x, and I'd be happy to swap at this point.

Coyote is of the good. I still can't describe what it smells like other than 'warm' but since I worship at the altar of warmness, this is a goodness.

What does the Enraged Groundhog Musk smell like?

I am having much luck with the musks, but none with the ones that are mainly floral.

Since you like the dirt scents, I shouldn't be surprised that you like Destroying Angel. Two, Five & Seven is the ultimate rose scent. I've got an imp of Anubis coming my way and I hope it's as awesome as you've described.
