I get paid $28 p/h before tax, and that is with a university degree in Software eng and 8 years experience.
However it is a geat skill to learn as databases are powerful things, bosses are always impressed when you pull out information form nowhere, great way to get a promotion!

I have heard that network is the hot career to be in these days. We'll see - I'll try to take that intro course next semester. I have a feeling it's not my cuppa tea though...

They are LONG hours and there are no courses for it you need to spend all your time online hacking sites.
I'm not wired that way I couldn't think of anything more dull, but that is where the money is.
Or a job as a 3D animator (going to art school).
Sorry to pop your bubbles, but I wanted you to have a realistic outlook. If you want more qualifications become a MSCE (microsoft certified engineer) it is rote learing muliple choice answers does't really give you the skills for the job but it will get you the job. YOu can do a course about $1000 or you can self learn from the books ($250).
