ugh, Horrible Cold

Woke up this morning with a Horrible Cold. Feel this is v. unfair, as spent all of yesterday ensconced in apartment drinking hot tea!

mogigraphia suggested it might be an extended reaction to the French Bread Up the Nose incident, which I had considered, but if anything, sneezing and nose-running seems to be concentrated on the OTHER nostril, so I don't ( Read more... )

I had a Horrible Cold a couple days ago, too. Sore throaty, runny nose, the works. I took a crapload of echinacea, and I'm almost over it. You should try that, it does seem to work.

I'm more inclined to believe in prevention than sudden cures, but either way, I don't have any echinacea in the house, either. :(

Maybe tomorrow; if I'm going to campus anyway, the Wal-Green's nearby has a pretty good tea selection.

I hope you're feeling better when you read this.

I also have something to say about emoticons and laughing online and such. I know I do it a lot, but it's only because if I don't people don't seem to get me and are offended. Often. It's annoying, but necessary since there is no tone of voice. I noticed back when I realised how much I said "hahaha" etc that I am kind of animated in the way that I speak. My sister said that when I get angry I talk like George Costanza from Seinfeld. Which I don't think I do, but pfft... Anyway, it sounds like an interesting area of study.

Well, I don't really feel better, but thanks. :-) My friend Greg is bringing me NyQuil, at least.

I think one interesting thing about emoticons is that we specifically have a "I'm just joking" one ( :p ) which doesn't actually represent something people do in real life for that purpose--when was the last time someone stuck out their tongue at you to communicate non-seriousness?

My sister has actually done it a couple of times when she's been trying to get me to believe something that isn't true. Hahaha. But she is an idiot, so let's ignore her. :p I mean... uh... How the hell else can you communicate non-seriousness though?

Dude. I'm Irish-Mexican and addicted to heat. Of course, I knew. :P Why did you think I recommended them? Vitamin C of FIVE oranges in one jalapeno, y'know. Plus, heat will clear out your sinuses. I took an extra bit of time to get some hot food today with oodles of habenero sauces and have been drinking as much OJ as possible.

In any case, hope we both feel better soon. Many laughs to you, academic and otherwise. :)

That note was not for YOUR benefit, dear, it was for people who might wonder why you'd recommended jalapenos.

I really want some hot and sour soup. >_
