We had the conversation around the Eames family dinner table again. Dad's a cop, I'm a cop, little brother is a firefighter. Most of it is teasing at this point, but the undercurrent of Dad's disappointment is still there

My Mum thinks its too dangerous. My father thinks I shouldn't be doing it because of my health. My brother is a lawyer and all I get is cop jokes.

Nice. Sounds like the jokes about how all my brother does is play with hoses all day. Please tell me you shoot back with lawyer jokes.

If your health was bad enough, they wouldn't let you work, so what's your dad's issue?

I don't think my day is complete without a good lawyer joke.

I think it's just because he's my Dad. He thinks the job is too stressful. And it probably is, but that's what I love about it. If I had to shuffle papers at a desk all day, I would smack myself in the head repeatedly.

Trust me. You would. Desk duty is the worst. Better than being home, but still....awful.
