And the public forgets that even those in our profession are only human.

Working in a system that was created by humans. Do we have to trust in it?

Yes.

But that doesn't make it any easier when it doesn't seem to work sometimes.

It's my opinion that we can't work in this justice system if we don't have some amount of faith in it. Otherwise, what are we doing?

I agree. It's very difficult at times when technicalities, red tape, or whatever else does get in the way.

That would be quite the compliment, Detective. Wisdom is something learned through years of experiences and taking said experiences and using them to learn and grow.

Consider yourself lucky to be able to detach yourself. I've seen detectives ruin themselves over bottom-drawer cases that they couldn't let go of, involving children or other causes close to their hearts.

I wouldn't consider a drive to protect children a flaw. So long as getting angry doesn't get in the way of how you do your job.
