As I was recently pressed into the service of this community by edoraslass, I think I should introduce myself
to the ladies present.

I'm aervir, a fan of the Hornblower TV series, a casual viewer of Pirates of the Caribbean (I much prefer the first part to the sequel, by the way), an occasional reader of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin novels (on which the ( Read more... )

Welcome aboard, Aervir! Y'know, I keep meaning to go read that, but after the first time I stumbled across it, read about halfway into the first paragraph, turned purple, and fell all over myself lunging for the back button when I heard people approaching my desk, I just never seem to remember it when I'm not at work.

Thank you for the link; will be sure to go and finally pop my "Shore Leave" cherry at some point very soon!

May I caution you against attempting to read the entire thing at work? It could affect your behavior in strange ways, and as it had me breathing into a bag at several points - particularly throughout the Bush/Norrington competition - I wouldn't suggest trying to man the phones.

Heh, yes, I wouldn't advise reading that at work, either. Unless you've got a very cool boss and awesome colleagues or only if you share your office with a bunch of ladies of the slashy persuasion. :)

I should believe you when you say things like that! I'm at work, but at lunch, and I thought, "Oh hey, I'll just go take a peek..." *saves for later*

You're welcome! It's probably my most favourite Age of Sail slash fic ever, so I'm always happy to sing its praises.
