Um, so this is basically really awesome... Your Dan voice is fantastic, and just so...DAN. I really felt emotionally in touch with him. The last line was great too. So yeah, lovely! :)
Thank you :D I'm so glad that it's coming through as unrushed; that was what I wanted to convey the most, but it was also the most difficult thing to write.
SQUEE! I looooove this and it's for MEEEEEEE! *wins*
I love that Val isn't painted as a villain. (I mean, what happened to her would be ROUGH, you know?) I love Dan's sweet quiet dreams about Duck. Dan's thoughtful narration is so perfect for him, and I really like him noticing that he's not looking at his shoes at the Watch for once. I adore the slow progress of the resumption of their relationship, and man, that last bit with him realizing how much he wants to be the cause of more smiles from Duck--SO AWESOME.
\o/ I'm so glad it worked for you :D You picked all my favorite parts, lol.
Val: It's easy to think of her as this horrible person, but given the circumstances, I can't entirely blame her. Besides, I don't think Dan would have married her if she were awful; I really believe he was just in denial of his sexuality, and therefore married this lovely, sweet person, and loved her, if not fully.
