ooh! This was beautifully quiet and revelatory. I love an empowered Dan making decisions on his own terms.
I also love seeing the empathy and understanding for Val -- and the entirely rational (yay) understanding that words said in moments of (her) entirely valid rage and then wept over in moments of (his) entirely valid self-pity were only feelings of the moment, not end-all, be-all pronouncements of truth. Yay for Dan thinking clearly. :)
