Doing my bit.

'Tis the season of camel crickets!I never saw one before last year, when I moved into my basement apartment. I'm kind of in a "valley," bottom floor of my building facing a hill with foliage. Before this, I lived on the 7th story ( Read more... )

Despite having lived in my flat for 10 years, last year was the first time I experienced camel crickets, too. They're perfectly harmless, and I agree, you're doing the right thing. We've had dozens of them this fall (many more than last year), but they stopped appearing some time around the middle of October.

Hah, I think it might have been your post that introduced me to them. I'm very grateful for that post, I would've been scared spitless if I hadn't known about them beforehand.

Apparently they can jump like bitches, too. I was a little freaked out carrying it in the mug; it was clear glass and I could see the legs flailing around as it wanted to escape.

I'm...not good with things that have long legs and jump. I would've tried to capture it as well (with like, a bucket or something) instead of killing it, because if there's anything worse than a big bug, it's big bug mess.

Exactly! I was traumatized by squishing a big bug with a piece of kleenex once. If it's too large, I'll capture and throw it outside. I refuse to subject myself to gross if it's not necessary.

Awesome. Hopefully the news of renewal (for the rest of this TV year) isn't rescinded. I wouldn't mind if they ended the show after this season, or at least wrapped up the storylines. Put everything they have into the plot and don't drag it out like Alias or some crap like that.

I'll watch it tonight in an effort to stave off depression. I'm looking forward to camping out in my apartment the rest of the week.

KILL THEM ALL.

Ok, then you can come clean up the bug guts. *shudder*

In the meantime, I'll pretend to be a caring and compassionate person who saves bugs rather than killing them.
