Lj glitchy tonight - or is it me?

I hate to say this, but my lj is glitching alot tonight. I hope that's all it is, just glitches (or else my internet rather than my lj), but like alot of people I'm worried about the effect that sanctions etc. is going to have on our access to lj, and only hope we're small enough fry to fly under the radar... you know, and other mixed metaphors

I've wanted a good way of downloading my lj for years. I tried something called LjBook years ago, but it didn't work very well (better than nothing though - and I'd completely forgotten I'd done it until I came to finding a file for my new downloads). When I remembered it I had a google to see if it was still around - and it turns out it's part of BlogBook!

The lads live on in my fandom, as young and beautiful as they ever were! Well, except in the older lad fics, but they're still beautiful there too. *g*

Me neither until I tried to find it! If you google you get a screen that says Ljbook is now integrated into Blogbooker, and then it redirects you to Blogbooker.

I've been trying over the past couple of days to back up the comm. It's currently backed up until April 2017.

Unfortunately I'm running into issues. I checked my passwords which have changed a bit - they're fine, but the downloads I have tried have failed at the 'import entries' stage. I will try again tomorrow.

Possibly if someone were happy to be added as another administrator on the DW side we could double our chances of making it work!

Hiya - ironically your message came in just as I decided to have a bash at downloading the Safehouse to BlogBooker. I didn't think it would let me because I'm a maintainer not the owner, but it let me do CI5hq earlier, and I'm not the owner there either. I don't have much time left on my downloads (you only get a certain amount), but cross fingers it will at least manage some of it. It will probably help that so many of the old images aren't there any more... :(

I was able to back up my own lj and both Dialj and CI5hq over at dw, but any back-ups I've tried since then have failed. If you think it would help to have me as an administrator for Safehouse over at dw, then I'd be happy to give it a go - just let me know!

And of course it could be that the non-Cyrillic lj servers are just small enough that no one's bothering with them and all will be well when the madman's out of power... crossing fingers there.

Success! I ran out of paid download time, but it just switched me over to the free version to finish up, and I now have the entire Safehouse saved as Word documents - one for each year - including entries and comments and images (the ones remaining after the Photobucket decimation anyway) and all!

Let me know if you're still at your own email addy, and I'll send them over. *g* It's not the same as having the community still there, but at least all the history of it won't be lost. Maybe the docs could be saved on ProsLib, for people to read, if we tidy them up?

I had another go today but it also failed at the import posts stage. So I might look into Blogbooker now, and I'll upgrade you as suggested on DW, so if you want to have a go backing up, do. Yes, I still have my old address, but with most of my re-enactment stuff now going to gmail I do not keep as up-to-date as I should with yahoo! As I am sure you know the groups part of yahoo was deleted a while back.

I wonder if it's due to overwhelming demand? DW don't seem to be as communicative as they used to be about such things.

ETA: You'll have to join the DW comm first! I just assumed you were there.

Thank you! :-)))) It's sort of semi-postponed this year as eldest can't visit for another couple of weeks (because work, plus just in the middle of moving into a new flat), but there will definitely be a glass of something that inebriates in my relatively near future *g* (I guesstimate about 5 hours hence, in fact)

Also, my bad - I did actually know that dw had stickies, because I'd seen them on people's posts, but my lj stickies didn't automatically copy into stickies. *g*

That said, I assumed dw would have the same little tickbox at the top that let you make a post your sticky post, so thanks for the link, because I didn't realise you had to do all that - and my word, what a palaver! I totally appreciate the intentions of the dw guys, but I wish they'd copied more of the good bits of lj!
