Oh I hear you! You're so right to vent anger and frustration at this! I feel the same every time I have to deal with a repairer/mechanic/technical guy who fails to explain where the problem originated from, then patronises me because as a woman he thinks I'm not supposed to really understand what's going on... *eyeroll*
It's so annoying, isn't it! Some guys are fine, of course, and if you show interest they'll tell you, but now and then you still get blokes like this... and I hate it when they're young, because I want them to be better than that nowadays! I want my wee niece to be treated better than that!
I can't believe they weren't wearing masks. Ugh People! We picked up pizza last night and no one was wearing a mask that was making them. I could see in the back. I will not be going back! Ugh.
That happens to me ALL the time. Mostly when I am having computer problems and I call IT and miraculously it's working before she gets to my office. I'm happy but feel like an idiot! Grrrr...
I know, the mask thing is just... not okay. And oh my they weren't wearing masks where food was involved too - that just seems wrong... I know it's hard to do things when you're wearing them, but it's even harder to do things when you're chronically ill from long covid, or even dead...
And yes! Computers are another thing it happens with! Just *headdesk headdesk headdesk*!!!
Glad the plumbers have gone and the working heating remains! (it's one thing to be cavalier about one's own health; what too many people don't seem to get is that they're being cavalier with other people's health (ಠ_ಠ ) ).
I just hope I don't need them again, little buggers!
I get the impression there's confusion over what masks are for - some people think they're to protect the person wearing them, when that's not true at all. So all these young immune-from-everything people (and I do remember what it was like when death was so much further away) presumably just aren't thinking about it the other way... like smokers weren't usually thinking "I won't die of lung cancer, but someone who breathes in my smoke might..." And it took a lo-ong time for that realisation to strike alot of people... *sighs*
alas it's not mine - saw it somewhere and copy-pasted, as one does! But it is a nice one :-)
oh and the who-does-the-mask protect thing, yes, argh! I thought/hoped most people got this by now, but I'm sure you're right :-\
did you get my email t'other day, btw? not in the least a big deal, it was more in the way of saying hi than anything else - I just wanted to check I was using the right address.
Hiya - I did indeed get your email, and much appreciated! I just can't seem to catch up on emails and lj at the same time, and I ended up on lj this weekend - sorry! I have to start work now, but I'll be distracted again shortly, I'm sure! *g*
I guess the trouble is that people need to know what the basic guidelines are - and if governments are going around talking about how protecting the economy is just as important as protecting people's lives, and so it's okay if you go to work... *sighs* Add young-immortal-lads to that and... *sighs more*...
...and if governments are going around talking about how protecting the economy is just as important as protecting people's lives...
We're having those same issues over here. It got so where I wanted to scream every time I heard our Governor say, "It's not just a health crisis, it's also an economic crisis."
Tell me about it... which just shows how most politicians have come to power, by having money and by wanting to protect that money... *sighs* And somehow most ordinary people believe in this. We had a chance over here to elect someone who was about people rather than money - and people purposefully chose a rich celebrity mayor who had a record of being racist and unkind instead... :(
