Chanderi, 2007, film recon

Feb 27, 2007 13:15

I just got back home last night
the India trip was a total raging success
got over 1000 photos for the Chanderi
city of weavers project
with a bunch that are world class.
Lots of "destiny" type events
unfolded assuring me that
this project/film is "right"
so there will be many posts
to come telling much
of what unfolded.
Here are a few random shots.

ok so here's the plan. after your documentary on the weaving village gets gigantic accolades all around and you have so much clout you could secure a grant to film dog poop decomposing on hot asphalt, you do a project filming wild bees of india and write me in as a consultant who must also travel there.

God, how I love those orangey Bundelkhandi sunsets. I'm glad you had such a good time...

And did you know that for the last month I was in India I was doing a project in Lalitpur (which you would, I'm sure, have had absolutely NO reason to visit!)? I didn't realize it was so close to Chanderi... But it's pretty close, as evidenced by this [pdf] map.

And not I never did make the Anubha contact,
but made a bunch of others, which I will
write about in the weeks to come.

You see the world is much smaller than we know,
Lalitpur is the town one must pass though
to get to Chanderi. I've passed though it
a few times now of course, and back in 2004
we even stopped there to get pani and fruit
and I took photos of a movie theater there.
So Chanderi is another hour drive into the wilds
of Bundelkhand remoter than Lalitpur. Did you ever
pass the Dam that is by Lalitpur? Chanderi
is just beyond that headed into the sunset.
