I figure I've posted enough Tamil Nadu South India temples, so a break from the temples. And its overwhelming, there are 100s and 100s and 100s of temples in Tamil Nadu. And I'm still going to post more later, but now a sort of break ( Read more... )

I've not seen that film but it *might* be on out on DVD.. I saw some scenes from another 60's Tamil mythological film, Thiruvilayadal, which was very interesting, both visually and storywise.

Thiruvilayadal is very similar to Kanthan Karunai its also about the drama's surrounding Murugan. They are made by the same director and are really fantastic movies, in the sense that they are like film 'magical realism' fantastic. For westerners they are really strange movies, kind of like listening to South Indian temple music except they are film. Don't know how to explain it? The two movies are like a pair actually. The actress Sridevi plays Murugan in Kanthan Karunai it was her first movie when she was about 7 years old.
