Percy coughed as he stepped out of the fireplace in his living room, not seeming to notice the soot and dust now covering his best dress robes in a thin film of grey. He still felt a small smile tugging at his lips - uncharacteristic of him, yes - but welcome under the circumstances. For once it seemed like he was actually doing something right, that taking the chance with Verity hadn't been in vain like he had expected. The unlucky streak he had since seventh year was finally starting to break, and perhaps he wouldn't be punished lifelong for his grievous mistakes.
Percy placed the book Verity had given him on one of his end tables, deciding to feed Hermes before settling down to begin the book. He was about to head to his room when a voice sounded from beside him.
"Hey Percy."
The bespectacled man turned quickly, wand raised to meet the speaker's throat. He blinked when he realized the intruder was only George and lowered his wand, resisting the urge to place his hand over his heart to check it's rapid beat.
"Merlin's beard George, what on earth are you doing here?" Percy asked, relaxing from the initial shock but still tense at the speculation of why George had come so late. "Is everyone alright?"
