"Not really," he began, waving his hand in dismissal as Percy made to interrupt. "Everyone still has their fingers and toes if that's what you mean. But... I'm not- Percy... I need to talk to you."

George lay more than sat in one of Percy's over-stuffed end chairs, his lanky body spilled over the fabric like a sheet draped over a washing line. The lights were out and from the looks of it George had been plunked down in Percy's sitting room since before sunset. Unmoved since his arrival, George's long, now-numb legs appeared disconnected from his body and he was entirely too large for the furniture. George slouched with his hands folded over his thighs and a face so blank and stony it nearly blended into the background of the dark sitting room.

Percy watched George closely for a moment, looking over him as if he were searching for some sign of outward injury before slowly taking a seat on a armchair across from his brother.

"Of course, what is the matter George?" Percy asked, unable to keep the worry from his voice. George's demeanor was stony, almost hostile in a subliminal sense. Percy pushed the thoughts from his mind, trying to quell the paranoia and keep his own expression calmly concerned.

George contemplated Percy for a moment without moving. He had been waiting for his brother for hours now with plenty of solitary time to put to script the topics that most haunted his heart and mind. Now that Percy was there, however, it was as if he had in that moment of panic forgotten the entirety of the English language. There were no vowels or consonants, no beginning, middle or end to the conversation stuck in his throat and for perhaps the fourth time in his entire life, George felt completely at a loss on how to proceed ( ... )

Percy stared blankly at his brother for a moment, digesting the words with widening eyes. "Wait.. you- you have feelings for Verity?" he asked in a near stutter. The fact made an uncomfortable bit of sense, allowing several things to fall into place as Percy thought back to the last few days. George's behavior at the quidditch match, his comment about Percy 'prowling' after Verity- if he truly did care for the girl.

Percy swallowed the lump forming in his throat, still watching George with wide eyes. "So you... what did she say?" he asked. "She never.. mentioned this to me."

Scritching at the under hang of his jaw, "Well that's only because it happened this morning." It was uncomfortable, talking to Percy about Verity considering the information he now knew but George was determined, not to mention stubborn. There was a task before him and though a slacker and a troublemaker, George, and in life, Fred, had always risen to the challenges before them ( ... )
