Padma re-read the owl from the Ministry with growing excitement. After the dismal year at Hogwarts and the battle, Padma was worried about her career prospects due to not taking her N.E.W.T.S. She really wanted to become a Healer at St. Mungos and knew that without the N.E.W.T.S. that dream would continue to be a dream. She had heard from her father about the possibility of sitting N.E.W.T.S. and she had quietly prayed that the Ministry would come up with a solution. This owl was proof and Padma couldn’t wait until September.

Padma sat down at her desk to figure out her study schedule of the N.E.W.T.S. she wanted to study for. She, of course, would test on the required subjects she needed to become a healer - Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration, and Charms - but should she test in her other subjects, History of Magic for example.

Padma decided not to think on it just yet and went to her trunk to find her old books. She found Guide to Advanced Transfiguration and Advanced Potion Making on a top stack of books. Her potions book made her pause as she remembered how she was running from one of the Carrows with the book when she first entered the Room of Requirement.

She came across Michael Corner and a first year boy running when he pushed her and the boy into a broom cupboard before he was caught. She stayed hidden with the boy holding onto him for dear life while quietly giving encouraging words. Deep down though, Padma was scared for Michael but knew by giving herself and the boy away, Michael’s fight would be in vain. She waited for what seemed like an hour and then quietly but quickly ran off to the Room of Requirement.

Padma shook her head of these thoughts and put the book down. She didn’t want to dwell on such things but wanted to look forward to her future. She walked over to her desk, grabbed the letter from the Ministry and went to look for her sister.
