Lavender arrived in Hogsmeade promptly on time. She'd fussed a little over finding the right outfit to wear for house viewing. Her shoes were of particular concern, especially if the house had an overgrown garden. In the end she chose a summery dress of white with small lilac flowers on it with white flat shoes. If need be she could always transfigure these into running shoes.
She walked into The Three Brommsticks and looked about. Spotting Neville she waved at him and then proceeded to the bar. Ordering herself a Butterbeer she came over to the table. She noted no sign of Parvati and worried that perhaps her friend wouldn't receive the owl in time.
"Hi, Neville." she said as she sat down. "Good weather for house viewing isn't it?"
"Hello, Lavender." he said with a smile. "Yeah it's boiling out," Neville could just imagine what the greenhouse would be like on a day like this. House viewing definitely seemed preferable.
"Did you hear anything from Parvati or Hermione?" If Neville was more organised at this they might have invited any other interested party's along but well it was just slightly different from having everyone bunk in the room of requirements and new to everyone.
"We should enjoy it while it lasts. You know what the British summer can be like - just a blip and then it's gone." she snapped her fingers to indicate this fleeting nature. "I'm surprised there isn't more interest in weather magic though fooling with Nature can cause all kinds of problems."
She blushed at his mention of Parvati and Hermione. "I only just sent an owl to Parvati this morning. Hopefully she will have received it and can join us. As for Hermione.." she hesitated and then the words just tumbled out. "I tried to think of a way to ask her about what her plans were but then I thought she'd think I was prying about her and Ron and so in the end I just didn't mention the house."
Once this confession was out she relaxed some. "Maybe if you take the place you could approach her? I know we shared a dormitory for six years but she didn't really mix much with the other girls in our year."
"True," said Neville, "it's already been nicer than last year." It hadn't felt much like summer really, he'd gone home but he'd been back at Hogwarts, there had been no exams just a battle. Everything and everyone seemed to be in a holding pattern as the wizarding world tried to adjust to adjust to what had been done to it over the last year.
"I hope Parvati can make it," he said. "But if not and she's interested I'm sure we can come again and have another look. I think it's been vacant for a while. Not that it isn't nice," he added as a an after thought. Hogsmeade hadn't exactly been welcoming last year what with the curfew and proximity to Hogwarts ensuring Death Eaters were a constant village prescence.
Neville thought Hermione was a bit more sensible than that but wasn't going to point it out to Lavender. She probably knew more about this sort of thing than he did anyway. "I could," he said, knowing it likely depended a lot on what Ron and Harry were doing. "If you're sure it wouldn't be awkward if she was interested?"
Parvati walked into The Three Broomsticks, and quickly scanned the room for Lavender and Neville. On the whole, she was feeling rather sheepish due to her late arrival.
It didn't take long to spot her friends, and she quickly wandered over in their direction. "Hi!" She called out. "I'm so sorry I kept you waiting. I only just got your owl, but..." Parvati trailed off as she sat down at the bar. She briefly considered the (she thought) daring idea of calling over the bartender and asking for a Firewhiskey. However, she quickly dismissed the idea. It was much too early for that.
"I have to say, I'm excited by the idea of living in Hogsmeade." Parvati said this with a bright smile. It was so good to see her friends again.
