[009] [voice/action] The Boy Is Diverting Himself

May 19, 2011 15:39

[Artemis has kept up radio silence since the latest experiment ended--nearly a month ago. Perhaps he was too embarrassed or simply humiliated that he had been made to forget his own family. However at least some good came from the experiment: he had been reminded of the various ways he used to pass the time when he was back home. And now that he ( Read more... )

[Hello there Artemis, someone else is wandering around one of the community housing buildings, too, but probably not for the same reason. Despite being strictly told not to go too far away from House 1, he wound up unintentionally ignoring that order while following a rabbit into the forest.]

[Sure, he made it back to the village all right, but now he isn't sure which way is home. He isn't too concerned yet, but he keeps glancing around as if trying to find some kind of landmark that could lead him home. He's still just a few days old after his mallynapping, although aside from his hair being a bit shorter, it's rather hard to tell.]

[Artemis is measuring a clearing he might consider for his new shop--but would he need a river running near it? Could he even build a power generator here?--when he spots Ion wandering around. Right... Artemis had never actually apologized for being so tsundere rough around the edges during the experiment. He retracts his tape measure and walks over to Ion while noting down the measurement.]

Ion-- hold on one second. [He finishes drawing the line to indicate where the measurement was taken, then looks up. Ion cut his hair, and Artemis has to resist the urge to point this out.] I realize we haven't spoken since the end of the experiment--and for that I apologize. I have been sorting things out since then. Personal loose ends. However, I wanted to make certain I didn't traumatize you or leave you with doubts or circular thoughts.

...how have you been?

[Ion turns upon hearing his name being called, but when he sees Artemis, he doesn't recognize who he is. Yet somehow he knows his name and he's talking to him like he knows him and... o-oh wait, he's talking. Maybe Ion should be paying attention.]

[The look on his face is one of mild confusion, but for the most part? He just looks really out-of-it. Even his words sound a bit more unsure than they usually do.]

Who... are you?

[Blink.] Excuse me?

['Who are you' is not a question Artemis Fowl II hears often. Because, obviously, he's Artemis Fowl II. However Artemis' shock comes less from hearing that question, and more from the fact that in a past fictional life, he and Ion dated. Everyone else remembered exactly what they had done during the experiment, except for Ion? Ridiculous.]

Ion, it's Artemis Fowl. [He snaps his fingers in front of Ion's face, checking for a reflex.] Are you awake?

[He reacts to the snapping just fine, shrinking back a little as if he had no idea what Artemis was doing... and, well, technically he didn't.]

...awake? [His words still sound unsure, and they are. It was a shame there wasn't much of a physical difference between Ion now and Ion when he was born. Although now that he's standing closer, Artemis might be able to recognize that Ion is just a bit shorter than he had been last week.]

[Artemis does actually notice this, now that he's closer to Ion. When they had been dating, Artemis was always aware of where Ion's nose was (but then he would promptly get embarrassed and back off), and so he realized that somehow, Ion was shorter.]

...Ion were you taken by the Malnosso? [He's never been one to mince words.]

What are the Malno... [Give him a minute, that's a hard one.] Mal... nosso?

[That would be a "yes".]
