ds fic recs: and in the end... facing the inevitable

The infamous death rec list is finally being disintered for your delight and damnation. Apologies to jad104 and torakowalski who were quite disturbed enough when I told them I was writing it back in April. And now I have more DS bunnnies to torment...
I feel kinda dead today, which makes it the perfect time to inflict it on you.
The Rec List Of Doom!
I once said to runpunkrun on ds_noticeboard, this fandom has a surprising fondness for death!fic and apocalypfic (that's my word). There's just much more than you would ever expect. It could be a weird statistical fluke, or it might just stick in my mind a lot more. So yes, this is the post where there are bodies everywhere and world ends, urm, about every five seconds last time I checked.
Praeoccupor Morte by Tara Blue a horror story.
New Year's Eve An apocalypse fic with no deaths. Odd. And strangely terrifying.
A Box Of Pictures by Pearl O I think this might count too.
I think MR wrote the classic DS apocalypfic This Is The Way The World Will End which might explain the weird obsession this chunk of the fandom has developed with asteriods. If that hasn't resulted in your death, there's a sequel,Dream Within A Dream.
Also by MR (on LJ as psykaos) is the highly disturbing (and when I say that boy do I mean it, disturbing: monsters, rape, a lunatic asylum, and oh yeah, it's in this section, wonder why?) Monster Series, which begins with And Your Friends Closer, and continues with Getting A Grip and What Lies Beneath before ending with a bang in Drowning The Demon
Infinite by LaTokay, this belongs with x-overs, but it also belongs here and it's my list, my weird organisational skills (or lack therof). RayK comes back from a job with a gift for Fraser. One of the most deliciously wrong stories ever. (No, I'm not going to tell you the x-over, that will spoil your appreciation of it. Possibly)
Executor by Kat Allison Just go read it. *heaving sigh*
Kowalski is Bleeding by Speranza If you know this, you'll know why. If you don't, what are you doing here? Go read it, it's magnificent.
Learning Patience by Alison made me laugh and then bought me to the verge of tears. I would like to thank torakowalski for finding me this one and the next two too.
Just Until by BlueChampagne is actually very sweet.
No Less Radiant by Laura Kaye is kinda cute. No I'm not just saying this to annoy you, Tora, I really do think it's cute. Yes, I'm a freak.
And one really creepy piece of fan-art Scarlet Bathwater by Diefenbaker aka originalkitsune She does some much nicer but equally mindblowing stuff as well, but this one is not for the faint of heart.

Thank you to mondschein1 for naming that fic! It is, Exposures By Dira Sudis and is the most perfect, most tragic, most real, most break your brain in fabulous ways, Due South death!fic ever. I kid ye not. It's a beautiful little mystery... with a lovely and clever title.
And now for a new entry, the short and bittersweet Just Like Drowning by bohemian_storm
Also on the new, new, new front: Six Months by mondschein1 which will make you wish you believed in ghosts.
Nevermore A Series Of Abnormal Cirumstances also by Mondschein (aka Giulietta), who admittably has a thing for this sort of thing, not that that's bad or anything. Warning, will make you rip out your still-beating heart and jump on it. Lots. But it is very good.
And Two Of Three by Elz is one of those things that will rip your heart out and make you want to sell it, and the fact that Ray's all old don't help none. (Yes, I have a thing a bout heart removal, maybe I'm a reincarnation of a Aztec god)
With a title like 'Til Death by Wylt, you think you know what's going to happen... and then it still gets you when it does... because you think for one tiny moment it won't.
Coming to Terms, which I am reliably informed is by AuKestrel is brilliant and features everyone's least favourite blonde and a lovely air of doom and bafflement. And that poem.
A Friend by Jenny Hill (Innusiq?) is Fraser/Vecchio, but still quite good and has a really Fraserish Fraser...
I have no idea where, Bridie And The Buffalo Soldier by MHH belongs, but then neither does it's author for all I can tell, so it's landed here. Leave your normal hats at the door please...
I still can't really believe that it's happened, but the ever-lovely torakowalski, she who despairs at my doom laden tastes, has written a death!fic all of her ownsome, the wonderful Last Night, which is a lovely, dark and romantic creep-fest.
Aphelion by cherryice is wonderful and full of belivably volatile RayK characterisation, actually believable everyone characterisation.
Hide The Moon By Lalejada is just painful, pitiful and scarily possible.
mondschein1 is back to her stomping ground of doom with Guardian Angel, which has a very depressed Ray sitting on Fraser's grave.
I hate to say I could see Form 1879C by Barb G aka troutkitty coming.
Unbearable by LaT is as terse and uncluttered as you expect Fraser's thoughts to be and beautiful because of it.
