This is the first night we’ve had internet since we started our journey.  Everything is just fine- the tourist trade is very slow this year due to all the turmoil at the border, but everything South of Ensenada has been extremely tranqilo.

We spent a lovely night at the San Diego Hostel USA.  It is in a converted whorehouse from gold rush days

Sounds like you've had some adventures so far! Sorry about the rental card fiasco, but I'm glad you made it through. Be safe and thanks for the update!

Sounds like a wonderful trip so far - full of danger and adventure and stuff - I mean, the scary parts are scary now, but they are the kinds of scary that make for excellent stories since nothing bad has actually happened. I hope the rest of the trip is as awesome, and that no more post-apocalyptic nightmares plague you guys.

Sounds like a great trip! re: the credit/debit card fiasco, I think debit cards don't have the same legal protections and insurance that credit cards do.
