That sounds really fucked up. If they ha been communicating with you about the gift cards they could have communicated with all the gifts, especially something like a scrapbook, which you totally could have contributed to >:(. That's just lack of courtesy. I'm sorry they did that.

Wow, that's really not nice at all. :( It pretty much looks like they were trying to upstage you, which is a shitty thing to do.

Hopefully your future sister-in-law understands that a lot of thought went into YOUR gift, too, and that she appreciates that.
