Okay, so its been weeks. i know. I'm sorry. This IS my ranting spot however and DAAAAAAAAAAMN do I have a rant for you.
The majority of you know my brother's wedding is coming up. Also that I am a bridesmaid. Much of that is a rant unto itself but I will say this. I am very jaded now and it will only be for the COOLEST and best of people that I EVER bridesmaid for again.
Today was the shower. One that has been in the works planning wise since before Christmas, which made/makes no sense to me but whatever. I'm not the maid of honour. Finally happened today. We'd all been told for ages to prepare for 40+ people. There was 20 if that. LOTS of wasted food and along wit that, money. Hi, I'm not rich! I can afford it all but seriously, that is a LOT of wasted food sitting at the bride's mothers place.
That's not even whats bothering me. THIS is. Please tell me I'm justified in being furious. Cuz I am.
We're doing the gitfts. There are three bridesmaids including myself and the maid of honour. My gift goes first which I was happy about. A visa gift card to put towards hair/makeup, a set of real margarita glasses and some mixer, and a note stating my official offering to take care of Jakey over Norm and Meg's honeymoon. I am still happy with my gift. I'd give it again. Now however, comes a nice lil bombshell.
Another gift is pulled out and its from BOTH the other bridesmaids/maid of honour. Huh? Okay. They went in together. Didn't tell me that but that's cool....no wait, its not. They made a SUPER personalized scrapbook with pages and notes from the two of them, Megan's parents, Meg's brothers, Norm, Jakob, pics from childhood, etc etc etc. Along with a stack of baking things and certificates from the salon we're going to for hair and makeup.
What. The. Fuck.
None of this was EVER mentioned to me, cuz I would have loved to be in on that. The three of us as a group discussed on facebook picking up visa giftcards to put towards Meg's hair/makeup so that's what I did and got a little something extra.
I just sat there stunned while it was opened up, trying not to let my shock and anger show. Its just....its fucking ridiculous! I could see if we were a larger bridal party and two of the girls went in while another two or three did their own thing but there's only three of us!! It just seems like a big 'youre not one of us' thing.
AND THEY'RE NOT EVEN MEGANS BFFS OR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're not even bffs!
One is a girl she grew up with that's like a sister to her and the other is her brother's wife. I get that they are Megan's two choices and I'm Norms but did they not think that that would be embarrasing or cause to make someone angry? I would NEVER do anything like that.
My mom took one look at me and just kinda shook her head to tell me to shut up. I wouldn't say anything sitting there in front of the guests but if mom could tell I was angry from across the room I'm sure people closer to me could too.
Then the pair of them avoided me for the rest of the shower, AND all the guests from Norman's side!
Fucking. Ridiculous.
