Not knowing why Aoko's senses were full of strangely joyful expectation. Seriously there wasn't anything which could excuse this shameless behaviour of her mind... Or was it Kaito?

With a smile Aoko took a glass Kaito offered her. Like a perfect gentleman her roommate opened the door for her which made her laugh. Sometimes living with the scientists let Aoko forget that she was a woman and that there is something called 'Chivalry'. And now she imagined herself trying to convince one of her colleagues-who-was-solving-another-multidimensional-integral-in-his-head to do such a nice gesture. She just couldn't help, she had to laugh ( ... )

Kaito was literally suffocating himself with the pillow over his bed in hopes of waking up from this terrible nightmare.

He had not just kissed Aoko...

He had not just kissed his roommate whom he had only just met a few months ago...

He had not- Wait.

He paused with his suicide ministrations in exchange of fixing his stare on the white plain ceiling while pondering newly developing matters.

And what if he had just kissed her? It was only a simple kiss like many others he had had before with other women. Moreover they were both grownups with no one to answer to.

'I definitely enjoyed kissing her...as I'm sure she did as well.' He proudly though to himself ( ... )

Kaito dared not to move an inch of his body until he was sure the door was firmly shut behind Aoko.

Slowly he opened his eyes.

Laying still on the same position he had been pretending to be asleep, Kaito quietly stared at the closed door. Face expresionless.

And he wondered. Made questions with 'What ifs' and 'Maybes'. Imagined different scenarios with the two of them. Formulated hypothesis. Wished for something that until now he thought was impossible.

Was it really that bad to let her in?

Once again, he closed his eyes, succumbing after a few minutes to a peaceful slumber with no dreams...
