You can have reconstruction with radiation. BUT the reconstruction process is not immediate. They will have to do it in stages to stretch the skin to fit implants. The doctor of course would know better but I know several people who have had full reconstruction after radiation.

Oh man! I am so sorry to hear her cancer has returned.

As Zimmszoo said, it can be done, but takes longer. And, it will depend on the plastic surgeon too.

Hugs and love and blessings!!!

Oh yes, and my insurance would pay for the reconstruction, whether I had done it right after the mastectomy, or years from now.

((hugs)) I just wanted to send you a hug and I hope she can get the surgery later on. I know when I had my lumpectomy, I lost all feeling in that breast and it still makes me feel emotionally and sexually inadequate to lose feeling and have something that doesn't look like a "normal" breast. It's something that is so defining of being a woman. I can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like to lose the entire breast or both :( I wish I could give her a big hug :(
