Patrick Fugit was in Saved! and he's been in a variety of indie films, including Wristcutters: A Love Story which will hopefully eventually make it to wide release, but with a name like that, who knows. And there's another movie. Anyway, he's still working. I just don't think he gives a shit about being famous.

I have never seen Saved!, sadly, and I really want to see Wristcutters. I didn't know much about it, besides that Tom Waits was in it, but I watched the trailer and it looks really interesting. I guess if I weren't really tired at the time I could have looked those things up myself. But! It's good that he's getting work and he's not just wasting all the exposure Almost Famous got him, unlike Kate Hudson, who I think needs to turn it around, seriously.

I didn't mean to say anything bad about Phillip Seymour Hoffman--at all! He's a really, really stellar actor, though I'm sure I haven't seen as many of his movies as you have. It's just that in "Almost Famous", between his performance and a great script (and I'm assuming the actual Lester Bangs's personality, as he mentored Crowe early on), it just makes the movie for me in a lot of ways--which is a feat, because I'd say the movie is hard to unmake. All that he says about music and coolness just sounds like poetry to me. Though it might just be me being crazy.

As for Rotten Tomatoes, I'd say it and IMDb have very different functions. Tomatoes is good if I'm interested in how good a movie from the five or ten years is, and to find critical reviews of them. IMDb is better for older movies and trivia and discussions, I feel.

I...actually saw part of Alex and Emma, while I was working at the movie theatre and my brother asked me to take him and his girl-du-jour so they could get in for free. We all left after about 15 minutes--I went to ( ... )
