HIGH SCHOOL! I'm FORTY! busybooklover January 9 2005, 04:19:54 UTC
Sheesh... talk about a late bloomer! I am SO naive sometimes... and this was definately one of those times. WHO KNEW???!!! (Certainly not ME!) I like "fairy-tale" retellings, fiction... little did I know there was a WHOLE other genre!!! Needless to say this will NOT be one I read to the girls (now 3 and 5).

Yeah, that would bring up a lot of colorful and uncomfortable questions, I'm sure.

Tell me,... Does it ever get any better??? busybooklover January 9 2005, 04:23:37 UTC
I've toyed with the idea of reading the others just to see if that poor girl ever gets to find her dignity??!! Something tells me I would be dissapointed,.. as they were not leading in a very "feminist" direction. What do you think,... thumbs up?? or thumbs down??? (On continuing the series).

Are you going to undertake a similar challenge for 2005? I'm trying to read 50 this year but I'm not sure how that'll go since I've only read two so far!

I'm keeping track-- but I'm off to a bad start. busybooklover February 4 2005, 16:45:42 UTC
The only way I was able to to 50 was becasue many of the books were quick little one-day reads. If I only counted books with say 200+ pages-- I'd have fallen short. Still, it is fun to keep track-- and I will again... I'd like to goal 52 (one a week) but Since I'm lagging-- it probably won't happen. I took advantage of the Netflix and Blockbuster free trial movie deal when my in-laws were here for three weeks.. so I watched a ton of movies. Both services are cancelled now (thank god!) and I can go back to the pressure of reading books rather than the pressure of watching movies. ;-) Hee hee.
