I have a sore throat, or at least am on the brink of getting one. My voice is very hoarse, and I've been drinking ginger tea all night. Also found a few sachets of Lemsip, left over from my Scotland trip last year, so made a mug of that too. I don't have time for that now. I have loads of Thirkell but I am too working class Labour to do anything but grind my teeth over her politics and class-ridden ideas.

And in later books she loses the plot entirely.

But the earlier ones, set pre-war, are lovely light reading.

Yeah, it's the earlier ones I'm reading at the moment. High Rising was pretty lovely, but Wild Strawberries has these moment of -Say What??? in the middle of some really charming crazy family stuff.. It was fascinating to read about her on wiki though. It doesn't help that I'm doing the gender course at the moment, and have been reading and talking about Marxism and 70s feminism all week.. not very Thirkell friendly =)
