[Phone]

[Hello, didn't you miss this voice, Mayfield?]

Good morning. I am sure someone can tell me where in the elementary school there are detention rooms, yes? So far, I have not been able to spot any such facilities on the school grounds.

[Guess who hasn't noticed that he was droned for quite a while and simply thinks that it is the next ( Read more... )

[Why can't you stay droned?

Awkward silence on the phone as he debates if Russia would somehow know it was him if he hung up.]

Oh, Mr. Braginsky, is it?

Of course there's no detention rooms at the elementary school, are you feeling well?

[The accent is American and barely recognizable as Belarus, but here she is.]

[The voice sounds familiar, but he is really unable to place it.]

There seems to be a punishment called "detention", though? [Who could she be... maybe one of the drone teachers or neighbours?]

Maybe "time out" at that age, certainly not detention, Mr. Braginsky.

Maybe you were thinking of the highschool, silly man. You should get some coffee.

A "time out" does not need a certain room?

[Really... his human last name sounds very weird in this voice, but why...]

[ The last time she had so much as heard from Russia was when he was sneaking up on her, but still, seeing an old friend again was always nice … even if it was in a place as unpleasant as Mayfield. ]

Uhm, to be honest, I wasn't at the elementary school for very long, but I don't remember ever seeing any detention rooms while I was there.

[ then again, she'd also gone out of her way to avoid detention since it sounded highly unpleasant. ]

But it was mentioned on this list.

[He sounds a bit confused.]

Along with giving them cleaning duties.

That's odd.

Have you already searched every nook and cranny? Maybe it's someone's idea of a joke.

The drones do not seem to be very fond of jokes.

[Or at least that is what he has observed so far.]

[Oh gag me with a spoon. You're here too? Ugh... just when he thought this situation couldn't possibly get more lame.]

... [Internally debates on whether he should just hang up and try to avoid Russia like he avoided the bubonic plague ooooor...]

Oh I can totally tell you where the detention rooms are.

Poland?

[Well, sure Poland would know. He probably was there himself many enough a time. At least that is what Russia's train of thought is.]
